Parent Involvement Blues

Just read a post by Jacinda who is lamenting about the attendance at a Title I meeting at her school. She feels that not enough parents are involved. Only 5 out of 700 families showed up for the meeting.

But this is typical unless there is a coordinated effort ot involve all the parents, including the hardest to involve parents! Take a look at her post here

Minutes of 9/21/05

The meeting was held in the Reading Recovery meeting room at Steinmetz.

Open House

  • Angela MacVilla came and spoke about how to set up Price Chopper cards, and how to appropriately set one up.
  • Su asked all to submit School plans for the year developed this summer
  • Budget for the year - Your principal has this years budget amount. Note: There is a 25% reduction this year.
  • Surveys should be distributed soon.
  • Su asked for a list of those who will be paid a sipend this year.

Summer Training

  • Yes, There will be summer training this coming summer! No date set as yet.
  • The Celebration this school year will be June 7th, 2006

Welcome to the 2005 2006 year

Welcome to chairpersons and welcome to newly appointed chairpersons who attended the parent involvement training this summer at the Stockade inn. We are happy that you have joined us in this effort which we think will benefit the parents and children in your schools with improved information about programs, services and opportunities for getting involved at the school.

This year, we will be trying out this format for delivering information to you. Please feel free to comment at the at the end of each post. We are greatly interested in knowing whether or not you like this format.
